About Brian Cloonan:

Brian is a Graduate of University College Dublin (Faculty of Agricultural Science) and has worked in the food industry for 30 years at  various levels from the production, processing, sales and recovery of energy from waste.  He has worked for two of the leading and most successful Agri  food business operators, Glanbia and Dawn Meats both of which have had enormous success in growth and development particularly over the past 10 years .   

He currently works for Dawn Meats Group as Operations manager of its Recycling business based at Ballyhaunis Co Mayo.Dawn meats group  has been and continues to be  a major player and supporter of sustainability technology and has won many awards including  the” McDonalds sustainable  Supply award” “Marks and Spenser partnership award”Ibec Environment award” “European Business award””Bord Bia sustainability award””Green Apple award””Welsh Business award” “Sustainability Champions award” Our recycling business has competed in the Seai  Sustainability  awards and Mayo  Green Business awards .We achieved  success at national level in  2013 by winning the Seai  national  award for innovation and the the Mayo Green business award in 2016. 

These achievements are independent national and European recognition of the contribution the company makes to Sustainability.  He believes that sustainability achieved  through the use of 21st century technology and clever utilisation of  our resources is a major contributor to growth and success in business today. 

We need to challenge the conventional ways of doing things (not because they are wrong  but because there may be better and more efficient ways).We need to understand and  demonstrate  that Education ,technology,efficiency  and transparency are key components to success in the world we live in today. 

As world population grows demand for food and resources will increase.  The land area available for food production is finite and consequently there is an onus on all the stakeholders to adopt technology ,work together and deliver effective systems that will allow  sustainability prosper into the future.
