The continuing reduction in costs of wind, solar and battery technology are speeding up the transition to a low carbon

economy. While battery storage helps to reduce the impact of the variability of renewables over a short time span, the

energy system will need to become smarter and more flexible to fully utilise the carbon reduction potential that these

renewables can offer.
